"Audrey", lino print in black

£40.00
Sold Out

Printed with black Caligo safe wash ink on Japanese Kitakata paper.

Artist’s proof

Only one of these was printed in this colour and on this paper.

Etheldreda, the founder of the first Abbey in Ely was also known as Audrey and this lino print on paper is my interpretation of her story. I see her as the island itself, submerged in the water the way Ely once was and the sky full of stars signifies her incredible destiny. She is surrounded by the eels that are also so much a part of the city's history that it was named after them.
