Ammonite Greetings Card

£2.95
Sold Out

150mm x 150mm greetings card printed on recycled card with a Kraft paper envelope.

During the Jurassic period much of the UK would have been under the ocean. That’s why marine fossils are more commonly found here. Long-necked Plesiosaurs would have shared the waters with belemnites, a kind of ancient squid and ammonites - the ubiquitous spiral-shaped fossil.

Ammonites were believed to be petrified snakes. Some believed them to have powerful protective charms and wore them as amulets. The truth is that ammonites were actually a marine creature, similar to Cephalopods, like Octopus and Squid but unlike squid they had a hard external shell like a mollusc.
